The Drum is actively looking for a PHP developer to join its expanding digital team in Glasgow.

At The Drum, we believe the key to our success is our people, and we are investing heavily in our digital team. We are looking to appoint a PHP Web Developer to work alongside a stand-out group of developers in our Glasgow office.

Skills required

The ideal candidate will also fulfil the following criteria:

• Strong knowledge of PHP web development
• Solid experience as an Object Oriented Developer with strong understanding of MVC patterns
• Some experience with at least one MVC framework, preferably in PHP, is a must. Ideally, this would be at least one of the following: Symfony 2 or 3, Zend Framework, or Laravel.
• Experience working with with relational databases, and an understanding of document databases.
• Experience working with, and ideally building, RESTful APIs
• Experience with and a good understanding of modern JavaScript technologies and best practice
• Good understanding of modern HTML5 and CSS3 techniques and templating
• Experience with version control tools such as git
• Passionate about technology, personal development, and problem solving

Education Requirements

Candidates will preferably be educated to degree level in Computer Science, Web Development, or similar.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for developing key areas of our online platforms whilst working closely with the digital team and members of the wider business.

The role will involve working within a dedicated, enthusiastic team to build features and functionality across the company’s platforms. In addition, you’ll be instrumental in developing new ideas and making them a reality.
