About Amiqus

1 million legal cases go unresolved in the UK each year. 1 in 3 individuals and 4 out of 5 small businesses can’t find or afford legal expertise when they need it. We think access to civil justice is a fundamental right.

Amiqus is building tools to provide access to legal information, so people can make informed legal choices. We partner with educational and legal organisations across the UK, combining their domain expertise with our product building knowledge.

Amiqus ID is our first product, allowing legal professionals to perform anti-money laundering, identity, and compliance checks online. These checks are required each time a legal advisor works with a client, so it lays the foundation for our future products. Lawyers, accountants, estate agents, and financial service providers currently do these checks in person, at huge inconvenience to clients, so Amiqus ID saves them a massive amount of time and money.

Role & Responsibilities

Amiqus is looking for an experienced engineer with a background in developing web applications to join our product team. This is a full-time role.

Amiqus ID is a critical day-to-day application for our customers, so considered code, thorough documentation and testing are critical.

You’ll be a key part of our growing development team, able to justify your decisions and plans, whilst supporting others with code review.

Requirements

  • 5+ year experience developing and maintaining web applications

  • PHP expertise (bonus: Laravel, TDD)

  • Knowledge of JavaScript (bonus: Vue)

  • Experience working with APIs (REST & SOAP)

  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical people

  • Attention to detail: you believe if a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing right

  • Bonus: experience working in an Agile development environment

Perks

Our team of 12 is spread across the UK. You can work remotely, or from our office at The Shore in Leith, 10 mins from the centre of Edinburgh. Most of our design and engineering work is currently done in Cambridge.

We have £38k+ salary allocated for the role depending on experience. Read more about what it's like to work with Amiqus: https://articles.amiqus.co/amiqus-where-good-people-do-great-work-5637ceee5666
